Strength in Colours

This project was featured in the Lifestyle magazine (Jan/Feb) 2019, and in the 2018 Parade of Renovations. Of course, when people were coming through, they commented that they had never seen a project like this. And while perhaps not for them, it was often said that they were very well put together, while bold and modern, they were very well connected, and designed. And who loved them the most- our visitors 65+, could totally see retiring in something fun like this.

After being brought in to quote a 20 ft. curved custom reception desk, the owners were so impressed with our ideas, and abilities, they asked us to quote the millwork in the 6 Condo’s above their medical clinic, averaging 1600 sq ft each. While the plumbing and electrical was already roughed in we recreated the original drawings, to be more practical in function and certainly in the bathrooms provide more space. The role of millwork provider quickly changed to working with paint colours, lighting fixtures, tile choices etc.

No doubt these colours are bold, but the scale of the rooms the views of the city, and the desire of the client to offer what no one had dared offer before. Found in boutique hotels around the world but not in London Ontario.

Admittedly, the project was intimidating, but with such a willing client, we went for it. We did bring in more neutral colours on the walls, yet still using colour in trim to and accent walls to connect the purple, red, or lime green faucets and tubs. (you read that right). The kitchen and bathroom cabinets are a combination of high gloss and (wood) textured Matte finish Medina. Slabs of quartz from Coni marble were brought into units via crane. The closets were completed with adjustable shelving for practicality and mostly in white with the odd pop of colour. Of course, the owner’s unit was decked out in bolder finishes, customer closets, walk in pantry and more.

Our staff in the cabinet shop loved the variety this project afforded them. As the owner was staging the units herself, we had the opportunity to shop for artwork, furniture, and accessories. What this tells future Covenant Clients? Diversity in design and style is something in which we excel.
