Paris Meets London

“Our kitchen is a dream come true! Craig, Bonnie and their team have taken our ideas, and made them a reality, blending timeless elegance with practicality. It is so beautiful, and we are blessed and thankful!” – Dave and Irene McGeoch

London’s Old North homes are known for their old-world charm but with that charm comes small, dark rooms. The kitchens were designed for a time before entertaining meant everyone collected in the kitchen, as they do now.

Covenant Construction’s work on this century charmer was completed in two phases. The first one was a much-needed facelift to the bathroom that dealt with the steeply sloped ceilings, creating a brighter, more usable space.

A year later, these homeowners desired a functional space that reflects their penchant for French country décor. The former kitchen had a bump-in from the office next door and the refrigerator was placed on the only wall large enough to accommodate it, but it nearly blocked the bathroom door. To meet the homeowners’ desires, Covenant Construction squared the room so that a dishwasher could be installed near the sink and the fridge was given an easy-to-access location.

To meet their requirements for enhanced storage, the wall behind the stove saw cabinetry installed in a recessed niche above the stove; the latter was levelled up with a custom range hood. True to French form, Covenant left an open space above for display.

The bakers rack was a find in a second-hand store, so the Covenant team sprayed it and added a shelf to match the Brazilian hardwood in the other rooms. A new shiplap ceiling was installed and highlights the reused chandelier and painted medallion. Tres magnifique!

The kitchen is completed by a cozy spot to sit and enjoy morning coffee and news, or a quick dinner. Larger affairs are accommodated in the adjacent dining room.
